Burning Wet Wood and House Coal will soon be a thing of the past
You may have heard that the sale of wet wood and house coal will soon be coming to an end. These fuels which are considered the most polluting, will be phased out in England starting next year and are to be completely stopped by 2023. The aim is to combat growing toxic air pollution and to deliver a target 30% reduction in emissions by 2020.
With over 2.5 million tons of logs sold each year, amazingly 90% of which are wet logs. The sale of traditional house coal will also be prohibited by early 2021 with a view to replacing them with cleaner smokeless options.
It is hoped that this will help to combat the health issues associated with burning these fuels including Asthma, Strokes, Lung Cancer and Heart Disease.
