Wood Industry Update

This is some latest news from the wood industry and of course from us. We are stocked to the maximum, there is no shortage of Kiln Dried Logs or Smokeless Coal  – supply is very good, simply because we have purchased extremely large amounts Kiln Dried Firewood in advance of this winter.

Prices have risen and are looking to rise again, as you hear every day on the news, the cost of fuel is rising. We try to keep our prices as low as possible by buying some products at bulk rates, sometimes it may be end of line goods, these savings we pass onto you our valued customers, please keep any eye on our Special Offers section, it will save you lots of money.

Prices have risen because of the following reasons, Covid being the number one, it’s caused staffing problems around the world which has led to significant price increases, shipping has risen because of a shortage of containers, shippers have put their prices up by nearly £3.500 per shipment/load, the cost of road diesel has risen significantly, some HGV drivers, some drivers have had many thousands added to their earnings per year, then you have increased electricity prices, kerosene and oil, everything has risen so much.

Just to top things off, the Government have now banned the importing of Kiln Dried Ash, so the Ash prices have shot up, we are very lucky we already had over 400 tonnes in this country when the ban came in, so we are legally allowed to sell this stock, unfortunately when it’s gone, it’s gone.

So, for the near future, we will have stocks of our wonderful and most popular Kiln Dried Ash it will be such a shame when it’s gone, it’s a wood that has been around us for hundreds and hundreds of years.
