Product Description
Kiln Dried Birch Logs Delivered
The Birch Loose load is a cubic metre of logs delivered loose using a tipper lorry. You can purchase up to four cubic metres at once and the logs will be tipped in a pile at your address.
If you use your wood burning stove every day and are looking for the best value way to buy kiln dried birch logs, the loose load is by far the most economical way to buy kiln dried logs.
Loose loads are suitable for customers with a private driveway, yard or off-road space where our drivers can safely 'tip' the load of logs. We are unable to deliver loose loads onto public roads. If you're unsure whether you can receive a loose load kiln dried birch delivery please speak to our customer service team who will be happy to help.
While loose loads are great value for money, for easy handling and convenience you may wish to choose nets of logs which can be handled easily by hand or barrow bags of logs which can be moved in bulk with a sac truck. Our large crates of logs are also a great option with the logs neatly packed into crates for convenience. You will need mechanical assistance to move a crate of kiln dried birch logs.
We deliver loose loads anywhere in Cornwall and Plymouth. Unfortunately we are unable to deliver loose loads of birch to the Isles of Scilly at present.
Log Size
These kiln dried birch logs are cut to 10 inches in length. They will fit most wood burning stoves and open fires. They are slightly on the large size for a pizza oven (depending how large your pizza oven is). If you have a small pizza oven, please see our Cooking Wood page which offers logs deliberately cut and split smaller to fit. When cooking pizza, low moisture is essential.
Choose Kiln Dried Birch for Safety and Warmth
Kiln dried birch logs have a really high heat output because they are hardwood logs with a high density. Thanks to our Woodsure Ready to Burn Certified status, you can be assured that all of the kiln dried wood we sell has less than 18% moisture.
Hardwood logs produce minimal smoke with low moisture content (unlike seasoned logs which are partly wet). Smoke damages chimneys and leaves dangerous residues on the lining. Over time this can increase the risk of chimney fire. For multi fuel burners, wood burners and open fires always choose kiln fried birch logs to reduce this risk.
When heating your home, you want your logs to burn hotter. Kiln dried birch logs burn hotter than seasoned or wet wood and light more easily too giving you a reliable, clean burn that will fill your home with warmth.
Unique Benefits of Kiln Dried Birch vs Other Wood Species
Kiln dried birch has a subtly sweet aroma thanks to the natural oils present in the log. This makes them a pleasant addition to any log basket as you will likely notice their presence in the room when you enter and smell their sweet scent.
If burning birch logs in the open, such as a fire pit, you may also be treated to a pleasant smelling smoke from the birch.
Kiln dried Birch is a sustainable choice that offers value for money too. Our logs are sustainably sourced from responsibly managed forests and because of the lower cost of birch, compared with Oak, Ash and Alder, it is a favourite among Logan's Logs' customers.

Hardwood Log Information
Our Hardwood is harvested from very large forests, under strict control by the Forestry Commission or other governing body depending on where we buy the Hardwood from, because Hardwood trees are natural they will vary in size, shape, even the bark may vary in looks, some trees will be smaller than others, some trees will be larger, the odd log might be a strange shape, unfortunately we cannot guarantee all logs will be the same size, you will get smaller logs and larger in your delivery, we check every load visibly to ensure you get the highest quality Kiln Dried Logs available.
Because the logs are Kiln Dried the bark will fall off quite a few logs, this is perfectly normal, the bark will burn as good as the wood, in most cases the bark will be used instead of kindling sticks or burnt on its own. Bark does form part of the delivery.
We do a hand-picked log service where any loose bark is removed and any larger logs will be removed, each log in your delivery will be picked out and if it has loose bark, it will be removed, if the log is larger than the majority, it will be removed and replaced with similar sized logs, this is extremely time consuming and will require a quotation, we will be delighted to help, please call our customer service team on 0800 8021 223 for a quotation for this service.
All our Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs are harvested and go through a careful kiln drying process, this involves continuous moisture and temperature checking by experienced staff.
This ensures that your Logs are in the best condition when they leave our premises in Wadebridge, Cornwall, our Kiln Dried Logs are continuously checked by our quality control process which ensures they are dried to below 18% moisture, most of our logs have an average of 15%.
Please don't be alarmed if you see the bark coming away from the log, this means the Kiln Dried Log has a lower moisture level, this bark is great for lighting your fire, our customers really like this as they don’t need kindling.
Our Kiln Dried Logs will vary in size, they are a natural product, trees all grow differently, most have a different diameter, so then the Log is split they will vary in size, you will have some larger logs as well as smaller ones, the smaller Logs are great to get your fire up to temperature quickly then you can put the larger Logs on for a longer burn, you may also notice that the bark will look slightly different from others, this is perfectly normal as they are a natural product and like us, they all grow and mature differently.
