Loose Loads Cornwall - log delivery by truck

This page shows the kiln dried logs we sell that can be purchased and delivered as a 'loose load'. This simply means that your logs will be loaded loose into the lorry and tipped when we deliver them.

Loose loads are a great value way to buy kiln dried logs because they cost much less to prepare and are therefore typically cheaper than nets or bags of firewood. If saving money is important to you, choose a loose load every time. If you are happy paying just a little bit more for the convenience of having your kiln dried logs in handy bags, nets or a crate then please choose those options.

Taking Delivery of Loose Load of Kiln Dried Logs

Our delivery driver will always be happy to help you and will do their best to tip the loose load of logs where you need them. However, we are of course limited by where we can physically manoeuvre the log delivery lorry. When placing an order for a loose load, please provide some notes during checkout so we know where you would like us to tip your logs.

Please be aware that a loose load will need to be moved by hand, log by log, into your store wood stack. This is where the convenience of the bags and nets comes in because they can be moved more easily either by hand, wheel barrow or sack truck.

For more information on storing firewood, see How To Store Kiln Dried Logs.

Loose Load Delivery Requirements in Cornwall

To receive a delivery of a loose load, we need access to a private drive way, garden or track. We cannot tip a loose load of logs onto a public road, path or pavement. The delivery vehicle needs suitable access and will be required to stop for approximately 20 minutes to make your log delivery.

Choosing a Delivery Date

Once you have placed your order for kiln dried logs either online or over the phone (please call 0800 8021 223 to speak to our friendly team), we can offer you a delivery slot at a time and date that suits you.

Our standard delivery service operates Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm so delivery will always take place at some point during those times but we'll always try and present options and make sure we deliver to you when it is convenient.

Ready to Burn Hardwood Kiln Dried Logs

Our loose loads are all made up of hardwood logs. It's the only type we sell. All of our wood is sold as kiln dried logs which means the moisture level has been reduced to less than 18% through the kiln drying process and is certified Ready to Burn by Woodsure in the UK.

When you buy from Logan's Logs in Cornwall, you are buying a high quality firewood product that we take a great deal of pride in. We (Logan's Logs Cornwall) are registered with the Ready To Burn scheme operated by Woodsure and our registration number is WS463/00001.

Free Kindling with Every Cubic Metre Purchased

We are currently offering customers a free net of kiln dried kindling for every cubic metre loose load purchased. This will be automatically added to your delivery free of charge and your delivery driver will hand your free kindling to you once your logs have been delivered. This kiln dried kindling is also certified Ready to Burn (as are all of our solid fuel products).

We also highly recommend purchasing firelighters. These are softwood bundles of fine wood shavings that light at the touch of a match and will ignite your kindling which will in turn ignite your logs.

Hand Split to Size

Logs are a natural product and come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Some are smaller and some are larger. Your loose load will contain a mixture of logs of different thicknesses and weights but they are all cut to 10inches long.

Smaller logs are ideal when you first light your fire because they will light more easily when the fire is just getting going. Once you have an established, hot fire with lots of embers you can start to add the larger logs which will burn at a very high temperature for a long time.

Managing Bark

When we deliver a loose load of kiln dried logs to your driveway, wood store or garden, it is very likely that some bark will detach from your logs when they are tipped from the lorry onto the ground.

Larger logs can often have quite a lot of bark which is absolutely ideal for lighting your fire on a cold evening. Our advice is don't dispose of the bark! Keep it. It's basically free kindling and if the bark has naturally lost contact with the log it was once attached to, this is simply a sign that the log is very dry.

When logs dry out, they change shape and size as moisture leaves the log. This causes the bark to loose contact with the log almost like an apple skin or egg shell. The bark catches fire very easily with a match so it's the perfect option for starting your fire. Birch logs have the most bark out of the three main species we sell so if you want lots of bark, order birch kiln dried logs.

Getting the Fire Started

Kindling & Firelighters

Choose from our range of affordable firelighters and kindling (sticks). Use these to build your fire before adding kiln dried logs.

Products like Wood Wool Firelighters are designed to ignite very easily when presented with a burning match and softwood kindling combusts easily in the early stages of your fire creating the necessary heat to burn larger hardwood logs later on. Our kiln dried logs are perfect for use in wood burners, providing a clean and efficient burn.
