Product Description

Kiln Dried Birch Logs in Nets

Buy logs in nets for maximum convenience and easy handling. Nets are the easiest way to handle your kiln dried logs around the home. A 22 litre birch net can be carried easily by an adult and are also safe and easy to stack and store.

Buying kiln dried birch logs in nets also means you can buy smaller quantities which is ideal if you're visiting Cornwall this winter or live locally and wish to click and collect smaller orders of logs more regularly.

Birch firewood is a hardwood and hardwood logs burn hotter for longer in your wood burning stove. Our birch wood logs come from responsibly managed forests and are Woodsure Ready to Burn Certified with a moisture content lower than 18% guaranteed thanks to the kiln drying process.

Our kiln dried birch logs in nets are cut to 10 inches long and will fit inside most smaller wood burning stoves.

Ready to Burn Quality Guaranteed

All of our logs are certified by Woodsure for safe and efficient use in log burners and open fires. Every log is guaranteed to have a low moisture content of less than 18%. This means minimal smoke, no spitting and intense heat. There will be no shortage of warmth in your home.

Using kiln dried birch logs is also more environmentally friendly than using seasoned (partially wet) or unseasoned (wet) wood. Kiln dried birch logs are a sustainable heating choice for homeowners.

For chimney safety please do not burn wet wood. Kiln dried birch logs burn cleaner and with less smoke and residue.

To ensure your logs stay dry, we need to prevent moisture buildup during storage. Ensure your logs are stored with good airflow around them and off the ground.

Kiln Dried Birch Bark

Birch is a great hardwood log choice for its pleasant aroma and affordability. Birch logs have a layer of bark on that will form part of your delivery. The bark on kiln dried birch is ideal to use as kindling to help get the fire started.

Birch has a high density making it a hardwood (similar to oak, ash and alder which we also sell). While this is great for generating lots of heat birch logs can be slightly harder to get to ignite. We recommend using kindling and firelighters to get the fire going.

It's essential to ensure all the fuel you put onto your fire has a low moisture content to reduce smoke and maintain a high temperature in the stove so that all your hardwood logs burn easily. Damp wood really dampens the efficiency and temperature of your burn.

Firewood Help Topics

We have written a number of helpful articles aimed at helping you to get the most out of your firewood.

Hardwood Log Information

Our Hardwood is harvested from very large forests, under strict control by the Forestry Commission or other governing body depending on where we buy the Hardwood from, because Hardwood trees are natural they will vary in size, shape, even the bark may vary in looks, some trees will be smaller than others, some trees will be larger, the odd log might be a strange shape, unfortunately we cannot guarantee all logs will be the same size, you will get smaller logs and larger in your delivery, we check every load visibly to ensure you get the highest quality Kiln Dried Logs available.

Because the logs are Kiln Dried the bark will fall off quite a few logs, this is perfectly normal, the bark will burn as good as the wood, in most cases the bark will be used instead of kindling sticks or burnt on its own. Bark does form part of the delivery.

We do a hand-picked log service where any loose bark is removed and any larger logs will be removed, each log in your delivery will be picked out and if it has loose bark, it will be removed, if the log is larger than the majority, it will be removed and replaced with similar sized logs, this is extremely time consuming and will require a quotation, we will be delighted to help, please call our customer service team on 0800 8021 223 for a quotation for this service.

All our Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs are harvested and go through a careful kiln drying process, this involves continuous moisture and temperature checking by experienced staff.

This ensures that your Logs are in the best condition when they leave our premises in Wadebridge, Cornwall, our Kiln Dried Logs are continuously checked by our quality control process which ensures they are dried to below 18% moisture, most of our logs have an average of 15%.

Please don't be alarmed if you see the bark coming away from the log, this means the Kiln Dried Log has a lower moisture level, this bark is great for lighting your fire, our customers really like this as they don’t need kindling.

Our Kiln Dried Logs will vary in size, they are a natural product, trees all grow differently, most have a different diameter, so then the Log is split they will vary in size, you will have some larger logs as well as smaller ones, the smaller Logs are great to get your fire up to temperature quickly then you can put the larger Logs on for a longer burn, you may also notice that the bark will look slightly different from others, this is perfectly normal as they are a natural product and like us, they all grow and mature differently.

Getting the Fire Started

Kindling & Firelighters

Choose from our range of affordable firelighters and kindling (sticks). Use these to build your fire before adding kiln dried logs.

Products like Wood Wool Firelighters are designed to ignite very easily when presented with a burning match and softwood kindling combusts easily in the early stages of your fire creating the necessary heat to burn larger hardwood logs later on. Our kiln dried logs are perfect for use in wood burners, providing a clean and efficient burn.
