How Should I Store Heat Logs to Keep Them in Good Condition?
Heat logs should be stored in a dry place where they are protected from rain, damp and moisture. Because they are made from highly compressed, dry wood, they can absorb moisture if they are exposed to humid or wet conditions.
Ideally, keep heat logs indoors in a garage, shed or other dry storage area. Leave them in their original packaging until you are ready to use them, particularly if the packaging provides additional protection against moisture.
If you need to store heat logs outside, they should be kept off the ground and completely covered. A waterproof storage box or well-protected log store is preferable to simply covering them with a tarpaulin, as moisture can still reach the fuel from underneath or through condensation.
Properly stored heat logs can be kept for a long time without deteriorating. The most important thing is simply to keep them dry so that they retain their shape, low moisture content and efficient burning characteristics.
