Do Birch Logs Spit?

Properly kiln dried birch logs are unlikely to spit significantly because most of the moisture has been removed during the drying process.

Like any firewood, occasional small sparks can occur, particularly on open fires, so using a fire guard is always recommended.

Wet or poorly seasoned logs are far more likely to spit than quality kiln dried birch.

Getting the Fire Started

Kindling & Firelighters

Choose from our range of affordable firelighters and kindling (sticks). Use these to build your fire before adding kiln dried logs.

Products like Wood Wool Firelighters are designed to ignite very easily when presented with a burning match and softwood kindling combusts easily in the early stages of your fire creating the necessary heat to burn larger hardwood logs later on. Our kiln dried logs are perfect for use in wood burners, providing a clean and efficient burn.

Very happy with my log delivery, this is the second year I have used them. Great communication, and the logs fit well in my log burner.

A fantastic service. Logs and coal ordered but not required for a month. No monies were taken until the day before delivery, and a delivery time was given at this call too, which was done with care of the property and exactly, not easy, where I requested the 2 sq meters of loose logs to be unloaded. 3 bags of coal were also carried to the log shed. A very nice delivery gentleman. Thank you all.
