What is Kiln Dried Firewood?
Kiln dried logs are a type of firewood that has undergone a specialised drying process to remove excess moisture. This process, known as kiln drying, involves heating the wood to high temperatures in a controlled environment, reducing the moisture content to below 18%. The average moisture content of kiln dried firewood is often much lower, sometimes as low as 10-15%, which ensures optimal burning performance.
The result is firewood that burns more efficiently, produces more heat, and generates less smoke and creosote buildup. Kiln dried logs are ideal for use in wood burning stoves, open fires, and fire pits, providing a reliable and high-quality fuel source for your heating needs.
Our kiln dried logs, also known as kiln dried wood, is available as Ash, Alder, Birch, Oak and kiln dried Beech (a popular choice for efficient burning), & Cooking Wood.
We can deliver in Nets, Bags, Boot Bags, Barrow Bags, Bulk Bags, Loose Loads and in some instances Large Crates. All of our kiln dried logs are accredited by the Woodsure Ready To Burn scheme so when you buy from us you know that our firewood is Ready to Burn!

Dried Firewood Burns Best
Kiln dried logs are a premium choice for anyone looking to get the most out of their firewood. Unlike traditional firewood, kiln dried logs are carefully dried in a kiln at high temperatures—typically between 80°C and 100°C—for several days.
This process reduces the moisture content of the wood to below 20%, making it ideal for use in wood burning stoves, open fires, and fire pits. The result is firewood that burns hotter, cleaner, and more efficiently, delivering a high heat output with minimal smoke.
Kiln dried hardwood logs, such as oak and beech, are especially popular for their ability to produce a steady, intense heat and a clean burn, making them perfect for keeping your home warm and your stove or fireplace running at peak performance.
Hardwoods Burn Longer
Hardwoods like alder, ash, beech, and birch are more dense so burn slower. This produces a long-lasting fire with more heat perfect for heating your home on an open fire or log burning stove. Our kiln dried logs are ready to burn logs, ensuring maximum heat output and minimal soot build-up.
Hardwood logs cost more but you will get more heat for longer from each log and hardwoods produce less smoke which is key for open fires indoors.
